Severe Flooding in Beijing Claims Life of At Least 30 People – DW – July 29, 2025

Intense rainstorms in northern China have resulted in the deaths of at least 30 people in the outskirts of Beijing, as reported by state media on Tuesday.

According to state broadcaster CCTV, over 80,000 people have been evacuated from the Chinese capital.

The majority of the deaths, 28, were reported in the hilly district of Miyun, while two deaths were reported in the nearby Yanqing district, both of which are located on the outskirts of Beijing, far from downtown areas.
