Germany’s conservative party emerged victorious in Sunday’s parliamentary elections, successfully countering the growing influence of the far-right AfD party, which saw a significant increase in its support compared to the previous year. Although the AfD’s success can be attributed to concerns over security and immigration following a series of violent incidents attributed to migrants, it is unlikely that they will be included in a governing coalition.
