Trump Appoints Conservative Commentator to Serve as Deputy FBI Director

US President Donald Trump has appointed conservative commentator Dan Bongino as the deputy director of the FBI. In a social media post, Trump described Bongino as “a man of incredible love and passion for our Country,” who will work under recently confirmed FBI director Kash Patel. Bongino, a former NYPD officer and Secret Service agent, also served as presidential protection for Presidents George W Bush and Barack Obama. He is known for hosting a widely listened-to podcast on Facebook, which often garners more attention than posts from Fox News and CNN combined.

Following Trump’s announcement, Bongino expressed gratitude to the President, Attorney General Bondi, and Director Patel via a post on X. In his message, Trump mentioned that Bongino is “willing and prepared to give up” his podcast to “serve” in this new role. Trump emphasized that under Bongino, the principles of fairness, justice, law, and order will be restored to America swiftly. He also stated that Bongino would excel in his new position at the FBI.

Bongino has a history of engagement with Trump, including hosting him on his podcast, The Dan Bongino Show, before the 2020 election. The titles of recent podcast episodes reflect Bongino’s conservative stance, with topics ranging from Trump’s achievements to criticisms of political opponents.

While Bongino is known for his conservative commentary, his new FBI boss, Kash Patel, narrowly secured Senate approval despite Democratic concerns over potential retaliation against Trump’s adversaries. Despite these fears, Patel has denied any intentions of pursuing political vendettas and has committed to “rebuilding” the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
