France’s most extensive blaze in over 10 years has been brought under control, however, it remains ablaze.

France 24 journalist Carys Garland reports from Narbonne, in France, where officials stated on Thursday that the largest wildfire in over a decade had been brought under control, after sweeping through 16,000 hectares. Residents evacuated from the area near the fire’s origin were not yet able to return home on Thursday, while others granted permission to return found they no longer had a home. Authorities mentioned it would take a few more days until the fire is completely extinguished.
