British traveler acknowledges responsibility for fatal accident involving drunken electric scooter and father of two in Perth

An English backpacker who caused the death of a father of two while riding an e-scooter under the influence in Perth has pleaded guilty. Alicia Kemp, 25, struck Thanh Phan, 51, while riding in the Western Australian capital on May 31st. Phan died from his injuries in the hospital a few days later. Kemp faced charges of dangerous driving causing death under the influence of alcohol and dangerous driving causing bodily harm under the influence of alcohol. She appeared in court, pleading guilty to the former charge, which caused the latter charge to be dropped. Phan’s family mourns him as a beloved family member and friend. Kemp sustained minor injuries, while her 26-year-old female passenger was treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
