Trump and China agree to prolong tariff reprieve by an additional 90 days – DW – 08/12/2025

On Monday, US President Donald Trump confirmed the expansion of a 90-day truce on tariffs with China. This decision, announced on his Truth Social platform, will extend the Tariff Suspension on China for another 90 days, with other elements of the agreement remaining unchanged. China’s Commerce Ministry also announced it would postpone additional tariffs on US goods for another 90 days, according to Reuters. The agreement in May between Washington and Beijing aimed to reduce mutual tariffs which had risen to 145% against Chinese goods and 125% against US goods.
