UKranian President Zelenskyy reports that Putin is preparing for a fresh assault rather than a truce in the ongoing Ukraine conflict, according to the latest Russia-Ukraine war news.

Ukrainian President Zelenskyy claims Putin is not preparing for a ceasefire and intends to continue attacking Ukraine despite the upcoming US-Russia summit in Alaska.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that Vladimir Putin is not preparing for a ceasefire, but rather is getting his troops ready for “new offensive operations” in Ukraine. This comes ahead of the planned meeting between Putin and US President Donald Trump in Alaska.
Zelenskyy explained that intelligence reports suggest that Putin plans to present his meeting with Trump as “a personal victory” and continue his previous actions in the war against Ukraine.
Zelenskyy added that there is no indication that Russia is considering a post-war situation. Instead, they are redeploying troops and forces in a manner that indicates preparations for new attacks. He emphasized that if someone is preparing for peace, they would not be taking these actions.

Ukraine’s military spokesperson for the southern front-line sector, Vladyslav Voloshyn, confirmed that Russia is moving some military units in the Zaporizhia region for further assaults.
Zelenskyy warned that any concessions to Russia would not persuade it to stop fighting in Ukraine and that concessions should not be given to a killer.
Zelenskyy’s warnings come before the scheduled meeting between Trump and Putin in Alaska. Previously, Trump suggested that Ukraine might need to cede land to end the war, which Ukraine rejected.
Trump stated that he would know within the first two minutes of meeting with Putin whether progress is possible and that he would urge Putin to end the war. Trump also mentioned the possibility of including Zelenskyy in a future meeting with Putin.
United Kingdom Prime Minister Keir Starmer and Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney stressed that any peace deal for Ukraine must involve Kyiv and not be imposed upon it. Zelenskyy also spoke to Carney, saying that Russians are only trying to buy time, not end the war.
The Institute for the Study of War (ISW) stated that Moscow does not appear to be preparing the Russian public for accepting “a settlement short of a full victory in Ukraine”, as there has been no change in public Kremlin messaging and ongoing speculation that Putin is trying to outplay the West.
European leaders and Zelenskyy plan to speak with Trump before his meeting with Putin to address concerns that Washington may impose unfavourable peace terms on Ukraine after the summit.
