During the August bank holiday, holidaymakers in Britain could experience delays when traveling, as various rail engineering works and almost 18m car journeys are likely to cause disruptions. The south-east and south-west of England are expected to have the most significant congestion. The RAC advises drivers to set off early to avoid heavy traffic, particularly on major routes to airports and coastal areas. The best times to travel will be after 7pm on Friday, before 9am on Saturday, and before 11am on Monday. Rail passengers will also face challenges, as Network Rail will be carrying out 261 projects over the weekend. Long-distance services between London King’s Cross and Peterborough will be suspended on Sunday, and there will be reduced services on some routes, including those from London Euston and between Birmingham New Street and Birmingham International. Passengers are advised to check their journeys in advance to ensure their route is not affected.
