England has experienced its fourth heatwave of the summer, contributing to the national drought affecting several regions. Kathryn Brown, the director of climate change and evidence at the Wildlife Trusts, attributes these early signs of autumn to the extreme conditions, noting that trees, under stress, are employing survival strategies by setting seed earlier. This could have severe implications for wildlife, which rely on the seasonal cycle for sustenance and breeding. With climate changes causing shifts in natural events, the concern is more pronounced, especially considering the potential impacts on food availability for animals preparing for winter.
