The assault followed warning calls and an initial hit by a missile launched from a drone.
Thankfully, there were no reported casualties from the strike, but it resulted in the devastation of about 100 tents. These tents were the refuge for people who were already forced to flee from conflicts in other areas of the Gaza Strip.
Following the strike, smoke billowed from the affected area, and the fires rapidly engulfed the makeshift shelters.
Civil defense teams immediately responded to the site to battle the fires.
Families, many with young children, were left to sort through the remains of their belongings that they had brought with them from earlier evacuations.
Mohammad Kahlout, who was displaced from northern Gaza, expressed his frustration and despair over the continuous attacks on civilians.
“We sought refuge in the so-called safe zone, given only five minutes to gather our belongings before the camp was bombed,” he shared.
“We are ordinary people, not terrorists. What have we done to deserve this, and what fault do our children bear to be displaced once again? This is a camp for civilians, refugees — there’s no resistance or armed individuals here.”
