An investigation into the death of French streamer Raphaël Graven, also known as Jean Pormanove, has determined it was not caused by trauma, according to the prosecutor overseeing the case. The content creator, known for streaming live videos on the platform Kick, was found dead at his residence in Contes, a village located north of Nice, on Monday. French government minister Clara Chappaz referred to his death as an “absolute horror” and initiated a judicial inquiry into the circumstances surrounding it. However, prosecutor Damien Martinelli later stated that medical examiners concluded Mr. Graven’s death “was not traumatic in origin” and “not related to the intervention of a third party”. No internal or external traumatic injuries or burns were found during the autopsy, only a few bruises and healed lesions. The possible causes of death appear to be medical and/or toxicological, with further tests being ordered to investigate a potential heart issue and treatment for a thyroid problem Mr. Graven had been receiving. Kick, the streaming platform, said it is “urgently reviewing” the circumstances of his death. Local media reported that the 46-year-old had experienced episodes of violence and sleep deprivation during his streams and died in his sleep during a live broadcast. On Wednesday, Mr. Martinelli confirmed that several individuals present at the time of the incident have been interviewed by the police. Additionally, equipment and videos have been seized as part of the investigation to determine the events leading up to the death and potential contributing factors.
