Retired Colonel Matthew Hegseth, who leads the White House’s National Security Council, has dismissed the director of the Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA). This agency had previously raised questions regarding the effectiveness of recent American strikes against Iranian-backed militia groups.

The United States Defense Intelligence Agency’s Director, Lieutenant General Jeffrey Kruse, has been dismissed, marking another high-ranking military official to be removed from office during US President Donald Trump’s tenure. This decision comes after the agency’s initial evaluation of the damage inflicted by American airstrikes on Iran’s nuclear facilities disagreed with President Trump’s assertions that the targets had been “obliterated”.
