The White House has reportedly revoked a policy order that linked arms sales to international law on human rights.
According to The Washington Post, President Donald Trump ordered the policy to be scrapped, with the decision formalized by National Security Advisor Mike Waltz.
The original order, signed by former President Joe Biden, aimed to prevent US arms sales from contributing to human rights abuses abroad. Specifically, it required assurances that US weapons would not be used in violation of international humanitarian law.
However, all mention of the memorandum has been removed from the White House website, resulting in a “404 error.”
A report mandated by the memorandum stated that while Israel may have violated international humanitarian law, specific cases of civilian harm could not be verified due to the ongoing war.
