Funeral for Shiri Bibas and Two Sons Set for Wednesday in Israel

The funeral for Shiri Bibas and her two young sons, Ariel and Kfir, is scheduled to take place this Wednesday morning in Rishon Lezion, Israel. This solemn event comes after their remains were transferred by Hamas as part of an ongoing prisoner and hostage exchange with Israel.

The service will be held in the proximity of the family’s home in Kibbutz Nir Oz, with a private ceremony at Zohar, as reported by The Times of Israel. The public is not invited to attend.

On February 21, 2025, Shiri Bibas’ remains were transferred to the Israeli authorities by Hamas through the Red Cross, following her positive identification the previous day. In addition to her remains, those of her sons and another hostage, Oded Lifshitz, were also positively identified prior to this ceremony.

Hamas stated that it has no intention of withholding any bodies in its possession, adding that the deceased hostages of the previous handover were victims of an Israeli airstrike in November 2023, which had also stated that the bodies were at risk of being misidentified due to the extensive bombardments in the area. The group initially handed over the remains of a Palestinian woman from Gaza on Thursday.
