British couple Lindsay and Craig Foreman have been imprisoned in Iran for over eight months. During a recent visit from British ambassador Hugo Shorter, it was confirmed that the couple is facing difficult conditions and that there is no indication of when or how the legal process will proceed.
Lindsay has been teaching yoga and English to her cellmates in the prison. The ambassadors also confirmed that the couple is being held in cells with over 50 other prisoners.
After being arrested in early January while traveling through Iran on motorbikes, the couple was charged with espionage. They had been aiming to drive to Australia but were detained and have since been transferred to different prisons.
Their son, Joe Bennett, spoke to Sky News and said that they have only been able to have a brief conversation with their parents once. He said that they are frustrated with the situation but understand that their parents were trying to have an adventure.
The Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office is calling on the Iranian authorities to improve the conditions in which the Foremans are being held and to work for their release.
