Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC) has been mandated to provide Antoinette Lattouf with an additional $150,000 as compensation for her wrongful dismissal stemming from a social media post related to Gaza | Australian Broadcasting Corporation

The Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC) has been ordered by a federal court to pay Antoinette Lattouf $150,000 in penalties for unlawfully terminating her employment. In a strongly worded judgment, the court found that the broadcaster had given in to pressure from pro-Israel lobbyists and let down the Australian public. The penalty is in addition to a previous order for the ABC to compensate Lattouf with $70,000.

The court found that the ABC’s conduct was a serious breach of employment law as its senior managers were aware of an organized political campaign by pro-Israel lobbyists to have Lattouf removed from air due to her political opinion opposing the Israeli military campaign in Gaza. The court also determined that the ABC’s senior management did not give Lattouf a chance to defend herself and showed disdain for her legal rights.
