Accomplished Performing Artist Noel Clarke Taken into Custody at Home in London | United Kingdom Updates

Noel Clarke, a well-known British actor, has been arrested at his London home as part of an ongoing police investigation. Detectives recently searched Clarke’s property in Kensington, reportedly taking away items such as a laptop and documents. The Met’s central specialist crime command is leading the inquiry, which began on September 1st. Clarke was taken into custody for questioning but was later set free; the specific reasons for his arrest remain unclear. Comment from the Metropolitan Police is pending.

The recent arrest follows a libel case that Clarke brought against The Guardian in August, stemming from their investigation where over 20 women accused him of sexual misconduct. The court ruled in The Guardian’s favor, dismissing Clarke’s claims of false allegations and conspiracy. Mrs Justice Steyn determined that Clarke was not a credible witness, finding no basis for his accusations of a conspiracy to defame him. The judgment was based on the testimony of nearly 30 individuals, including 26 who orally detailed their experiences with Clarke.

Clarke, known for playing Mickey Smith in the Doctor Who series (during the Christopher Eccleston and David Tennant periods), and for roles in films such as Star Trek Into Darkness and SAS: Rise of the Black Swan, has a significant presence in the British film industry. Following the publication of The Guardian’s allegations in 2021, Clarke’s Bafta membership and his ‘outstanding British contribution to cinema’ award were put on hold.
