Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and his American counterpart Donald Trump had a visible clash during their meeting at the White House on Friday.

The disagreement began when Zelenskyy questioned Vice President JD Vance about his stance on diplomatic efforts with Russia to end the Ukrainian conflict. In response, Vance criticized Zelenskyy for attempting to discuss this issue in front of the American media within the Oval Office.

Following this, Trump publicly chided Zelenskyy for not showing “gratitude” and accused him of not being interested in peace, as well as disrespecting the United States. The US president warned that if no agreement is reached, America would withdraw its support, leaving Ukraine to face the consequences alone.

Following the confrontation in the Oval Office, Trump ended negotiations with Zelenskyy, and the Ukrainian leader left the White House without signing a major deal on critical minerals that had been negotiated recently.
