Pope Francis is recovering well from double pneumonia at Rome’s Gemelli hospital, where he was admitted on February 14 after a prolonged bout of bronchitis. The Vatican reported that the 88-year-old pontiff had a restful night and is no longer on mechanical ventilation, showing no signs of a new infection. Although Pope Francis is in stable condition, he remains hospitalized as his recovery continues. He did not participate in his traditional Sunday noon blessing, which was replaced by a message from the Pope thanking his doctors and well-wishers for their support, and expressing his solidarity with the sick worldwide. The Pope also emphasized the importance of prayer and unity in his message. Cardinal Konrad Krajewski led the Rosary prayer on Pope Francis’s behalf in St. Peter’s Square, calling for prayers for the Holy Father’s health.
