Russian authorities face criticism over provision of meat grinders to families of soldiers who lost their lives in Ukraine conflict.

Russian officials from the ruling party have sparked outrage by giving meat grinders to mothers of soldiers killed in Ukraine. The gift, which is often used to criticize Russia’s aggressive tactics, was presented to the mothers on International Women’s Day. Critics denounce the gesture as both shameless and improper. Russia is frequently accused of treating its soldiers like “meat grinders,” sending them into dangerous situations leading to significant casualties. The local party in Polyarniye Zori defended the gifts, claiming they were given due to a mother’s request. The actual number of Russian casualties in Ukraine is unknown, with some estimates suggesting tens of thousands have been killed.
