Authorities Urge Evacuation to Higher Areas Due to Rising Floodwaters Following the Impact of Ex-Tropical Cyclone Alfred | Ex-Tropical Cyclone Alfred

Ex-Tropical Cyclone Alfred has left more than 230,000 households and businesses without power, with flash-flooding warnings issued for coastal areas in southeastern Queensland. Heavy rain has caused the issuance of these warnings in the Brisbane, Gold Coast, Logan, and Ipswich council areas, with residents advised to move to higher ground or prepare to leave immediately if the threat worsens. In northern NSW, where one death has occurred, rain continues to fall and roads are closed as people are warned against driving through high water. NSW SES Assistant Commissioner Sean Kearns has stated that the weather will continue throughout Monday and possibly into Tuesday, further increasing the risk. Despite facing flooding, Malcolm Drysdale in Brisbane remains unfazed as he has experienced flooding before in his life. Meanwhile, the Prime Minister visited Lismore, a town that claims the lives of some and injures others during the deluge, as emergency declarations are issued and rescues take place across Queensland and northern NSW.
