According to reports, at least 12 individuals lost their lives, and 45 others sustained injuries when a bus overturned on a highway in South Africa, resulting in passengers being thrown from the vehicle. Emergency services in Johannesburg were present at the scene on Tuesday, attempting to right the bus to ascertain if there were any individuals trapped underneath it.
William Nthladi, a spokesperson for the Ekurhuleni Emergency Management, stated, "Upon arrival, we discovered patients lying across the road." The incident occurred early Tuesday morning on a road adjacent to OR Tambo International Airport.
The bus was reportedly transporting individuals from the township of Katlehong, located east of Johannesburg, when it overturned near the highway’s edge.

Mr. Nthladi confirmed that 12 individuals were pronounced deceased at the scene by paramedics, while the injuries of the survivors ranged from serious to critical. The driver of the bus was also taken to the hospital.
There was no other vehicle involved in the crash, and the cause of the accident has not yet been determined.
