France seals Six Nations triumph with win against Scotland in Paris | UK News

France have secured a triumphant win in the Six Nations by defeating Scotland with a score of 35-16 at the Stade de France in Paris.

Earlier in the day, England mounted an intense challenge for the title by annihilating Wales with a record-breaking score of 68-14 in Cardiff.
However, France asserted their dominance in front of an enthusiastic crowd, clinching their first championship title since 2022 and only their second since 2010.

Scotland came close to disrupting the celebration, unfortunately for them, they trailed behind 16-13 at halftime following a disallowed Tom Jordan try.

The match retained its intensity until France introduced their forward replacements, causing Scotland’s defense to weary under the relentless pressure.

Yoram Moefana secured the bonus-point with his fourth try, sparking jubilant celebrations in Paris.

Following their loss to England on matchday two, France staged a remarkable comeback, dismantling Ireland and Italy to position themselves strongly ahead of the final match.

As hosts, they only needed a victory over Scotland, with both England and Ireland also in contention, albeit conditional on other results.

Last year’s champions, Ireland, narrowly kept their title aspirations alive with a 22-17 bonus-point win over Italy in Rome.

A week after their Grand Slam ambitions were dashed by a 42-27 loss to France in Dublin, Ireland reclaimed the top of the table ahead of the other matches.

However, for Ireland to retain the title, they needed their competitors to falter. England’s striking performance against Wales pushed Ireland into second place, while France’s victory relegated them to third place.

In a touching gesture, Prince William, the patron of the Welsh Rugby Union, and Princess Kate, the patron of the Rugby Football Union, cheered on opposing sides from the stands.

England’s emphatic victory, which included ten tries, still left them dependent on Scotland defeating the title favorites to claim the top spot.

Wales, having suffered a second consecutive wooden spoon and a 17th Test defeat in a row, set a record for a tier one nation in the professional era.
