Some parts of the UK are expected to be warmer than Ibiza and Corfu this week, on the first official day of spring. The spring equinox falls on Thursday, and temperatures in the south of England could reach up to 19C, which is 8C hotter than the usual temperature for this time of year. An increase in dry weather and sunshine is expected over the next few days, with southern Scotland, Northern Ireland, and most of England and Wales experiencing these unusually warm temperatures. However, the beginning of the week will still be quite chilly, with overnight frost and a cold wind. The forecaster predicts that temperatures could be about eight degrees above average in some areas by the middle of the week. This increase in temperature is largely due to a large area of high pressure bring dry and sunny weather. The warmest air is expected to be in the southern parts of the UK, with the north of Scotland maintaining its colder weather for most of the week.
