Persistent Symptoms of Long Covid: A Five-Year Perspective

On March 17, 2020, France, along with numerous other countries worldwide, implemented a lockdown in response to the rapid spread of Covid-19. Fast forward to five years later, and many individuals infected by the virus continue to experience symptoms, a condition now referred to as Long Covid. The complications stemming from this affliction can vary, but often encompass exhaustion, muscle pain, persistent fevers, heart conditions, and challenges with concentration. For some individuals, their lives have been completely upended as they were compelled to abandon their employment and confront family members who doubt the legitimacy of their illness, perceiving it as merely “all in the mind”. In this episode of Focus, journalists Gaëlle Fonseca and Claire Paccalin engaged in discussions with Long Covid sufferers as well as specialists at the Clinique du Parc near Montpellier, who are tirelessly searching for answers.
