Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy recently replaced the military’s top official in advance of a call between President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin regarding a potential ceasefire in Ukraine. Andrii Hnatov, with over 27 years of military experience, has been appointed as the new chief of the general staff of Ukraine’s armed forces, while the former chief, Anatoliy Barhylevych, will now serve as the general inspector of Ukraine’s Defense Ministry. Zelenskyy stated that these changes are aimed at making the Armed Forces more efficient and effective. Trump has confirmed that he will speak with Putin during the call to push for a truce in Ukraine.
