Family Reports Release of British Tourist Detained in US Due to Visa Issue | US Immigration Matters

A British woman, Rebecca Burke, was recently detained in the US for three weeks due to a visa mix-up. Her family reported that she has left the immigration detention center and expressed hope that she was on her way home. Rebecca, a graphic artist from Monmouthshire, was denied entry into Canada and was subsequently arrested and taken to Tacoma Northwest detention facility. Her father, Paul Burke, previously claimed that she was being held in “horrendous conditions” without access to legal representation. Although the family is uncertain of her exact whereabouts, they are optimistic that Rebecca is on her way back to the UK. They had raised nearly £10,000 online to cover her legal fees, living costs, and return flight home, and pledged to donate any extra funds to relevant charities in Seattle.
