Malaysia’s government has officially endorsed the resumption of the search for Malaysia Airlines flight MH370, which disappeared over a decade ago. The approval allows Ocean Infinity, a marine robotics firm from the United States, to continue the search for the Boeing 777 that vanished along with 227 passengers and 12 crew members. Despite previous unsuccessful attempts, including a 2018 search by Ocean Infinity covering an extensive area of the southern Indian Ocean, new hope has been ignited with a deal that will span 18 months and- if successful in locating the aircraft- will compensate Ocean Infinity without charge if the wreckage is not found. This renewed effort, which will explore a different area of the Indian Ocean, comes after the Malaysian government previously signified its support for a new search endeavor.
