This could potentially be the final significant trial concerning the former far-left terrorists of the “Red Army Faction” (RAF). The trial of alleged former terrorist Daniela Klette will begin on Tuesday in Celle, Lower Saxony. The RAF group held West Germany in suspense for decades and was responsible for over 30 murders. Klette is accused of armed robbery and attempted murder, while her co-defendants Ernst-Volker Staub and Burkhard Garweg remain at large. Klette lived under a false identity in Berlin until her arrest in February last year. Although the RAF disbanded in 1998, security concerns regarding the trial remain high, resulting in a special venue being converted. Klette is expected to deny her involvement in the revolutionary struggle. The trial is expected to last around two years.
