Wildfires have caused devastation in South Korea, resulting in at least 18 fatalities, 19 injuries, and the displacement of thousands.
Acting President Han Duck-soo described the situation as “unprecedented” and stated that the wildfires are setting records for the worst fires in the country’s history.
Numerous cultural sites, including the historic Unramsa temple, have been harmed by the fires.
Social media videos show the temple engulfed in flames.
The Uiseong city blazes destroyed the Gounsa Temple, which dates back to 618 AD and was one of the largest temples in the province.
