The number of fatalities from a devastating 7.7-magnitude earthquake in Myanmar increased to over 1,000 on Saturday, as rescuers continued to uncover bodies from the ruins of multiple buildings that collapsed when it struck near the country’s second-largest city.

He also proposes measures that can be taken to prepare for earthquakes, including incorporating earthquake science courses into school curricula, even in nations experiencing political and social turmoil.
