A preacher encouraged worshipers to remember Palestinians in Gaza, urging them to pray for peace and provide aid to the affected region.
As the local mosque could not accommodate everyone, the preacher asked worshippers to pray on the beach.
“This Eid, Muslims have come out of their homes to celebrate. They gathered here on the Kongo shore for the festivities,” stated Mohamed Hassan, a Muslim preacher at the Kongo River Mosque located next to the beach.
“We encourage kindness and support for the people of Gaza on this day. We wish them happiness, just as we celebrate our joy,” he added.
Islamic communities worldwide are concluding Ramadan and inaugurating the holiday of Eid al-Fitr.
Eid is commonly celebrated with great enthusiasm, characterized by congregation prayers and festivities including family reunions, gatherings, outings, and the tradition of wearing new clothes.
