Euronews brings live coverage from the second day of the inaugural EU-Central Asia summit.

After years of reform and Europe’s support, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan are shifting their strategies towards a closer relationship with Europe. The EU seeks trustworthy partners amidst the changing geopolitical landscape.

This Friday, Samarkand, Uzbekistan, will host the second day of the first high-level meeting between the EU and Central Asia. Euronews will provide coverage from the summit, which Uzbekistan’s President Shavkat Mirziyoyev described as a “historic chance” for the region.

Over the past seven years, trade between Central Asian countries and the EU has quadrupled, reaching a total of €54 billion. Additionally, over 1,000 companies with European capital are operating in Uzbekistan with a joint investment portfolio of €30 billion.
