Wildlife trafficking ranks among the most lucrative criminal endeavors globally, trailing behind drug trafficking, human trafficking, and arms smuggling. Late last year, an international operation revealed the seizure of 20,000 live, wild animals, encompassing a range of species such as reptiles, felines, turtles, and monkeys. Connected to this operation, authorities apprehended 365 individuals linked to six distinct illicit networks. In France, law enforcement has recently discovered endangered felines residing in Parisian apartments, far removed from their indigenous environments. Some of these animals are now under care at an animal sanctuary located in Nogent-le-Phaye, to the south of Paris.
