Museum acquires unusual Emily Brontë artwork through auction purchase.

The Brontë Parsonage Museum in Britain has acquired a rare painting by Emily Brontë for £32,000 (€37,034) at a auction. The watercolor, titled “The North Wind,” depicts a young woman and is a copy of an engraving by William Finden from 1833. The painting, done by Brontë when she was 24, is uncommon as manuscripts by the Brontë sisters often sell at auction, but artworks are less frequent. Emily Brontë, best known for her novel “Wuthering Heights,” is relatively unknown for her pictorial work. The painting will be assessed and then displayed permanently at the museum in West Yorkshire.
