Magistrate Rami Attia denied an interim non-publication order that had previously protected her identity and pen name. Tesolin-Mastrosa’s solicitor, Mickaela Mate, argued against the charges, emphasizing that the 18-year-old protagonist in the novel consents to a relationship with her father’s friend, and that no children are involved. Despite the solicitor’s arguments, the magistrate ruled that there was no basis for extending the non-publication order, as the news of Tesolin-Mastrosa’s identity has already spread far and wide.
