Nora Aunor, one of the Philippines’ most esteemed film stars, has passed away at the age of 71. Her passing on Wednesday was confirmed by her children through social media, but no additional details regarding the cause of death were disclosed.
“Aunor’s influence spanned generations, thanks to her unparalleled talent, grace, and commitment to her art. Her voice, presence, and artistry have left behind a legacy that will endure forever,” her daughter and fellow actor, Lotlot de Leon, expressed on Instagram.
Hailing from a modest family in Iriga City, Aunor’s career in television, music, and film spanned over seven decades. In 2022, she was recognized as a National Artist for Film and Broadcast Arts – the highest honor for artists in the Philippines.
