Israel Claims Indefinite Military Presences in Gaza, Lebanon, and Syria

The Defense Minister of Israel announced that military personnel will continue to be stationed in “security zones” within Gaza, Lebanon, and Syria on an indefinite basis. This decision may create challenges for ongoing negotiations concerning a ceasefire and the release of hostages with Hamas. Israeli forces, after successfully reclaiming more than half of the Gaza Strip, restarted their operations last month. These operations were initiated in an effort to exert pressure on Hamas following the breakdown of a temporary truce.
