Zoe Daniel claims her team played no role in the controversial Climate 200-supported robocall that drew criticism from the Coalition.

The independent MP Zoe Daniel has dismissed claims that her campaign team was involved in a phone survey criticized by the Coalition as “push polling.” Nine Newspapers has released the audio of a robocall launched by the polling company uComms on behalf of Climate 200, which starts by highlighting Daniel’s parliamentary record before asking how the respondent would vote on May 3. Daniel has stated that her team had no involvement in the survey, which she believes adheres to Australian Electoral Commission guidelines. Push polling, a technique that uses loaded questions to influence respondents, is strongly condemned by the Coalition. Daniel opposes the use of push polling for any candidate. Climate 200 has chosen not to comment on the matter, while some independent MPs have previously criticized similar surveys as an “affront to democracy.”
