Man mourns the deaths of his children after an Israeli bombing on a church in the Gaza Strip | International News

During the Easter holiday, the Gaza Strip remains engulfed in the ongoing 18-month conflict with Israel, offering no respite to its inhabitants. The territory is home to a small Christian community consisting of Greeks, Catholics, Evangelicals, and Anglicans.

Ramez al-Souri, who lost his three children to an Israeli airstrike on an annex of Gaza’s Saint Porphyrius Greek Orthodox Church, shared his unfathomable pain. He stated, “My home is different now; there’s no laughter or happiness. I lost my daughter, Julie, and my sons, Suhail and Majd; they were the good people of this Earth.”

Gaza sees no relief as ceasefire discussions make no progress, and Israel tightens its blockade and intensifies its military actions. This has led to over 400,000 Palestinians being displaced as Israel expands buffer zones and levels houses to create purported “security zones,” interpreted by Palestinians as a “land grab.”

Mr. Al-Souri emphasizes the dire situation, urging the world to stand in solidarity with Gaza, which he sees as “the moral conscience of the world.” Despite the ongoing struggle, the resilience and spirit of the people in Gaza prevail.
