The Coalition, led by Liberal leader Peter Dutton, plans to implement a new policy aimed at cracking down on “drugs and thugs”. The plan includes tougher narcotics laws and a new disclosure scheme for parents to discover potential sex offenders in contact with their children. The $750m Operation Safer Communities initiative also focuses on tightening border security, enhancing safety laws, increasing funding for police, and upgrading detection of illicit drugs.
With the Coalition currently trailing in all published polls before the May 3 election, they will focus their final campaign efforts on national security, crime, and defense.
