In the Wake of a Militant Assault in Kashmir, Pakistan Prepares for a Possible Indian Retaliation

Following the killing of over two dozen Indian civilians by militants in Kashmir on Tuesday, the Pakistani government expressed a measured stance, insisting they have no interest in escalating tensions with India. However, concern is growing among the Pakistani populace as Indian officials hint at possible military strikes. Television airwaves are filled with defense analysts cautioning about the unpredictable consequences of intensified hostilities between the two nuclear-armed neighbors. The Indian government has yet to officially identify any group responsible for the attack in a tourist area of Indian-administered Kashmir and has responded with a range of punitive measures against Pakistan, including the suspension of a water treaty. In response, Pakistan is planning a National Security Committee meeting to formulate a response.
