Following an incident at a street festival in Vancouver, Canada, several people have been killed and others injured after a car drove into a crowd, local police confirmed.
Multiple injuries and fatalities were reported after a vehicle struck a group of people during the annual Lapu Lapu festival, which celebrates Filipino culture.
The driver is currently in custody, but the exact number of casualties is still unknown.
On X, police stated that a driver plowed into a crowd at a street festival located at E. 41st Avenue and Fraser shortly after 20:00 local time.
“More information will be provided as the investigation continues,” according to authorities.
Social media footage showed numerous police cars, ambulances, and fire engines at the scene, with injured individuals lying on the ground.
