Following his meeting at the Vatican with Volodymyr Zelenskyy, Donald Trump, in a press statement, expressed a newfound sense of compassion for his Ukrainian counterpart. He remarked on Zelenskyy’s dedication and efforts to do good for his country. Reflecting on their conversation in a “beautiful” setting, Trump also showed disappointment over Russia’s bombing of Ukraine after talks between Russia’s president, Vladimir Putin, and Trump’s peace envoy, Steve Witkoff. When questioned about his expectations from Putin, Trump emphasized the need for an end to hostilities and a peace agreement. He hinted at progress in trade talks with China, despite officials there denying such discussions. The president also commented on the tragic death of Virginia Giuffre, a prominent Jeffrey Epstein accuser, labeling the situation as “sad” but avoided direct links to Epstein’s social circle.
