Boat Capsizes Near San Diego, Resulting in Fatalities and Missings | SD

Three people died and nine others, including two children, were reported missing after a small boat capsized in rough waters off the San Diego coast, California on Monday. Authorities identified the incident as a suspected migrant smuggling operation. Four other individuals were rescued and taken to the hospital. The search for the missing people, including believers to be from India, continued. Shawn Gibson, a special agent in charge of the US Homeland Security Investigations, labeled the incident as a “stark reminder of the dangers posed by maritime smuggling”. Maritime smuggling off the California coast has long been a perilous alternative for migrants aiming to bypass heavily guarded land borders.
