Australia’s participation in next year’s Venice Biennale remains uncertain due to Creative Australia’s decision to cancel its commission of artist Khaled Sabsabi and curator Michael Dagostino. This news weighs heavily on the First Nations team, who unveiled their new creation, Home, at the Venice Biennale of Architecture, held every other year in the Giardini. Home, an 4.8-meter by nine-meter prototype, was painstakingly reconstructed from sustainable materials sourced from the Veneto region, showcasing Indigenous concepts of building, design, and connection to Country. The Creative Sphere team, the first all Indigenous team from Australia to participate in Venice, hopes that Home encourages visitors to embrace their unique relationship with the concept of home.
