Leaders Macron, Merz, Starmer, and Tusk unite with Zelensky in Kyiv, aiming to influence Russia towards a ceasefire.

On Saturday, Emmanuel Macron of France, Keir Starmer of the United Kingdom, Poland’s Donald Tusk, and Friedrich Merz, the new leader of Germany, will meet with Ukraine’s Volodymyr Zelensky in Kyiv in a joint effort to persuade Russia to adhere to a “full and unconditional” 30-day truce. This marks the first occasion when four European leaders have collectively visited Ukraine, and follows Russia’s celebration of Victory Day, during which President Vladimir Putin praised Russian forces fighting in Ukraine.
