Mali’s military government has announced the dissolution of all political parties in the West African nation. This decision comes amid a growing number of pro-democracy activists being abducted from the streets of Bamako and days after a protest demanding a multi-party election. Mamani Nassire, the minister of political reforms, read out a decree signed by military government president Assimi Goita. The decree prohibits members of dissolved political parties and organizations from holding any meetings. Since 2020, Mali has been under military rule and has delayed its promised elections.
