Former Gabon President Ali Bongo Set Free After Being Ousted

The previous Gabonese leader, Ali Bongo Ondimba, and his relatives have exited Gabon and traveled to Angola after being freed from detention. This action comes in the wake of a sequence of incidents that originated from the August 2023 military coup, which concluded the Bongo family’s 56-year reign. Bongo, alongside his wife and son, faced allegations of misappropriating public money and were subsequently held in custody.
