The Mexican Navy training sailboat Cuauhtemoc collided with the Brooklyn Bridge during a promotional tour in New York City on Saturday. The ship’s three masts crashed into the iconic bridge, causing them to partially collapse as it floated in the East River. According to the Mexican Navy, at least 22 people were injured, three of them critically. However, no personnel fell into the water, so rescue operations were not needed. New York City Mayor Eric Adams confirmed that 19 people were injured, with four serious injuries. The cause of the collision is currently under investigation. Multiple eyewitness videos captured the moment of impact, with heavy traffic on the bridge at the time. The victims were rushed to local hospitals. The Cuauhtemoc had 200 people on board at the time of the incident, and it was repaired after the mishap.
